An In-Depth Biblical Study on the Book of Daniel

About the Study
One could argue that there is no more important text to grasp in the Bible than Daniel. When asked by his disciples about knowing the end of all things, Jesus cites the need to understand the visions of Daniel citing the prophet by name. When trying to interpret the text of Revelation, every notable scholar will reference Daniel as the key to unlocking the meaning of John’s visions. This is an in-depth chapter-by-chapter study of the text with accompanying study guides.
The Structure of the Study
PART ONE
Chapters 1-6
In the first half of the study, we explore the narratives of Daniel that define the ordeals of his life after being taken captive into Babylon under the reign of Nebuchadnezzar and lasting through the empire’s fall to Persia. Daniel comes to recognize that far from being a victim, he is in-fact there as a witness to God’s sovereignty.
PART TWO
Chapters 7-12
The second half of Daniel’s text contains the four visions given to him by God concerning both the immediate future as well as the end times for all of humanity. Much of what Daniel sees parallels the visions of John in Revelation. The study will explore all of these connections and help the student understand this as a relevant text for today and not simply a historical study.

CHAPTER 03 PREVIEW
Daniel's friends, known most by their Babylonian names Shadrac, Meshach and Abednego are thrown into a furnace for their refusal to submit to an act of idol worship. We explore a historic iron smelting furnace for scale and context while discussing how God's allowance of suffering often results in His larger purposes being achieved.
Daniel's visions in Chapter 7 and 8 actually occur between Chapters 4 and 5 in respect to a timeline. This means Daniel was aware of God's plans for the future when called in to Belshazzar's evening party to translate ghostly handwriting. We, too, now understand God's plans for the end times and so this episode explores how we should speak to our culture much the way Daniel spoke to the Babylonian king.
